Abstract

This qualitative study examines the role of green leadership in promoting sustainable Human Resources (HR) practices in Indonesia's manufacturing sector. Through in-depth interviews with 15 HR managers and corporate leaders, the research reveals that environmental commitment from top management acts as a transformation catalyst via three key mechanisms: (1) sustainability-focused training, (2) incentive systems to encourage employee participation, and (3) green behavior role modeling. Findings indicate that green leadership effectively shapes pro-environmental organizational norms, despite challenges such as employee resistance and budget constraints. The study contributes to green management literature by offering a contextual perspective from a developing country, while providing practical recommendations for integrating sustainability into HR strategies.
